Back to R1b

R-U106 is a sister branch to R-P312 off of R1b. P312 gave rise to western Atlantic haplogroups, including those linked with Celtic and Iberian cultures. U106 is distributed through Europe, but appears to have flourished in the area now Germany, and the surrounding region, including England and Scandinavia. Perhaps one of the paths of U106 into the British Isles was through Anglo-Saxon tribes.

Project members falling under U106 willing to commit to sufficient Y testing should join the R-U106 haplogroup project.

R-U106 clusters within the project's private Y results are numbered starting with Cluster 1500.

SNP Calendar / Timeline

The Collins surname is polygenetic. The two project lineages acquired their surnames from different sources. This is by no means unique to this haplogroup.

Geographic details from project members on their paternal lines show diverse origins in the United States, not traced back to the British Isles.

Project members falling under U106 can improve the data on this page through advanced active project participation. Most U106 Collinses have not tested more than 37 markers.

R-U106 Collinses are in private project Clusters 1500-1502.
